Participation in the Solo Performance Preparation Program is by audition only. It is our most competitive program, and fills to capacity each session. We strongly encourage you to audition early!

Note: Alumni may bypass the audition process if attending the same program. Students that attended any previous PIMF Solo Performance Program may register without auditioning for the 2021 PIMF Solo Performance Program. The audition process is the same for both in-person and online programs.

Audition Requirements:

• 5-10 minutes of current, well-prepared solo repertoire.
• Recordings may be accompanied or unaccompanied.
• Recordings should include two contrasting pieces.
• Please include scales appropriate to your instrument. Examples below:

Virtual Camp Tuition:

Full-Day Fee (9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.): $2400

Includes daily private lessons, daily solo performance class, daily workout with faculty accompanist, two daily music electives, daily solo performance lecture series, and all evening events/performances. This program is designed off of our renowned in-person Solo Performance Preparation Program – and is designed to include even more. With five private lessons each week in addition to daily accompanist workouts, this is our most intense program offering.

Does the virtual program offer the same opportunities as attending in person?

Yes!  We carefully crafted our virtual programs to include nearly all of the same opportunities as our on-site festival.  In many cases, we have actually added programming to the daily summer schedules.  Students in the Virtual Solo Performance Program will have the opportunity to participate in daily solo performance class; daily music education courses; solo performances and competitions; daily hour-long private lessons with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra (our on-site SPPP Program includes three private lessons weekly); an interactive afternoon solo performance seminar; master classes with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra; and more!

How does the “Afternoon Only” Program work? What does it include?

The Afternoon Only Program offers students from around the world the opportunity to join our programming for music classes and lectures including Orchestration/Instrumentation, Conducting, a daily lecture series with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and one private lesson with a member of The Philadelphia Orchestra. This program runs daily from 1:30 – 4:30pm. 

Is it necessary to submit audition materials for the Solo Performance Preparation Program prior to registering?

Yes. Our Solo Performance Preparation Program is a highly competitive music program.  For more information about audition requirements, click here.  Note: Alumni may bypass the audition process if attending the same program. Students that attended any previous PIMF Solo Performance Program may register without auditioning for the 2021 PIMF Solo Performance Program. The audition process is the same for both in-person and online programs.

When is the audition deadline?

All programs at PIMF run on a “rolling admission” schedule. Once a program is filled to capacity, auditions will be closed and posted at that time.

How do I submit my audition materials?

What if I need technical help with submitting my online audition materials?

What technology do I need in order to participate in the festival?

All you need to participate is a computer or laptop with internet connection and video/audio recording capabilities, a quiet room, your instrument, and your brain!  In order to make our online programs as accessible as possible, we do not require any subscription to video software, specialized microphones, or external webcams. 

What software will be used by students to participate in the festival?

All of our online programs will be taught live through Zoom and/or Skype.  However, you do not need a paid Zoom or Skype subscription to participate.  A free account is all you will need. We will take care of the rest!

Who can I contact if there is a technical problem during the festival?

If you have any questions or need assistance during the festival, chat with us online at any time. We can be easily (and immediately) reached at PIMFOnline.org. What is the PIMF Virtual Café?

Our virtual café is a place for students to enjoy a delicious lunch at home while chatting with fellow musicians in a relaxed atmosphere online. It is a great place to meet new friends as well as catch up with those you may already know!

What is the last date I can register for the Virtual Solo Performance Program?

Registering as soon as possible is highly recommended as enrollment in the Solo Performance Program is limited. Once the program is filled to capacity, we will mark “closed” on all corresponding website pages.
