The Piano Studies Program at the Philadelphia International Music Festival is an intense piano training program, including five private lessons weekly; daily piano master classes; daily music education courses & seminars including music theory, conducting, music business, and history of sacred music; daily duet classes; 2-4 hours of daily private practice; and more. Consequently, it is recommended that only intermediate-advanced pianists register for this program.

Entrance into the Piano Studies Program is by audition only. Note: Alumni may bypass the audition process if attending the same program. Students that attended any previous PIMF Piano Studies Program may register without auditioning for the 2021 PIMF Piano Studies Program. The audition process is the same for both in-person and online programs.

Audition Requirements: One solo piece. May be any length. Both audio and video files are acceptable.

Virtual Camp Fees:

One-Week Fee (8:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.): $2050

Does the virtual program offer the same opportunities as attending in person?

Yes!  We carefully crafted our virtual programs to include nearly all of the same opportunities as our on-site festival.  In many cases, we have actually added programming to the daily summer schedules.  Students in the Virtual Piano Program will have the opportunity to participate in daily performance classes; daily music education courses; extensive solo performance and competition opportunities; daily hour-long private lessons with faculty pianists; master classes with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra; and more (our on-site Piano Program includes three private lessons weekly with faculty pianists)!

Is it necessary to submit audition materials for the Virtual Piano Program prior to registering?

Yes. Our Piano Program is a competitive music program designed for intermediate-advanced students.  For more information about audition requirements, click here. When is the audition deadline?

All PIMF programs operate on a “rolling admission” schedule. Once a program is filled to capacity, the program auditions will be closed and posted.

How do I submit my audition materials?

What if I need technical help with submitting my online audition materials?

What technology do I need in order to participate in the festival?

All you need to participate is a computer or laptop with internet connection and video/audio recording capabilities, a quiet room, your instrument, and your brain!  In order to make our online programs as accessible as possible, we do not require any subscription to video software, specialized microphones, or external webcams. 

What software will be used by students to participate in the festival?

All of our online programs will be taught live through Zoom and/or Skype.  However, you do not need a paid Zoom or Skype subscription to participate.  A free account is all you will need. We will take care of the rest!

Who can I contact if there is a technical problem during the festival?

If you have any questions or need assistance during the festival, chat with us online at any time. We can be easily (and immediately) reached at PIMFOnline.org. What is the PIMF Virtual Café?

Our virtual café is a place for students to enjoy a delicious lunch at home while chatting with fellow musicians in a relaxed atmosphere online. It is a great place to meet new friends as well as catch up with those you may already know!

What is the last date I can register for the Virtual Piano Program?

Registering as soon as possible is highly recommended as enrollment in Virtual Piano Program is limited. Once the program is filled to capacity we will mark “closed” on all corresponding website pages.
